Huntington Congregational Church

United Church of Christ

This Week January 29, 2019

Dear Folks,

Stay safe and warm on this wintery day!

Karen Boroski’s sister, Kathie Withenbury passed away on Friday.  Please keep Kathie’s family, especially Karen in your prayers.  In lieu of flowers, please make a contribution to HCCUCC or Sloan Kettering in Kathie’s memory.

Thank you to all who helped out and or/contributed to Julie Chase’s memorial service.  Please continue to keep the Chase family in your prayers.

This Sunday, February 3 is the Fourth Sunday after Epiphany.  We will be celebrating Holy Communion.  The scripture is Luke 4:21-30.  The sermon is “Closed Up”.

We will also be taking the Emergency Assistance Fund (EAF) offering this Sunday. The Mission Committee has developed the Emergency Assistance Fund to assist people within the Shelton community and/or our church community who have an urgent, unexpected need for financial assistance. EAF offering envelopes (yellow) will be available in the pews for collection. We thank you for your generosity in supporting this outreach effort.

Following worship, the New Member’s Class will be held. For more information, please contact me.

We are in need of Sunday School teacher volunteers. There is a signup sheet in the Alcove for those who would like to help volunteer as a teacher or a helper for a Sunday. Just sign up on the Sunday you would be available. Thank you to all who have already volunteered.

For 2019, each church member is asked to contribute $12 toward the Membership Dues for Connecticut Conference and Fairfield East Association. The Deadline is March 1st. You may place your dues contribution in the offering plate OR by On Line Giving available at HCCUCC. If you need a convenient way to make regular offerings or for additional gifts, we encourage you to check out our electronic giving options. Visit huntingtonucc.org or contact the church office for more information.

We will be taking an offering on February 24 for the 30th Annual Bowl-2-Benefit The Umbrella Center for Domestic Violence Services.

Let us pray.  O Holy God, when life gets hard, may your healing Spirit be ever more evident in our lives.  Help us to trust in your strength and love, knowing you will never abandon us.  Amen.

In Christ’s love,

Rev. Lucille
