Huntington Congregational Church

United Church of Christ

This Week February 11, 2020

Dear Folks,

On this Valentine’s Day, remember, God loves you unconditionally just the way you are!

This Thursday, February 13, is my Prayer Day. If you have any joys or concerns you would like me to raise up, please let me know.

Stephen Csire’s Memorial service will be held at our church this Saturday, February 15 at 11 A.M. Please continue to keep his family in your prayers.

This coming Sunday, February 16 is the Sixth Sunday after Epiphany. The scripture is Deuteronomy 30:15-20. The sermon is “Choose Life”. Our organist, James Bruni, will not be with us this Sunday, so the music will be more informal. The choir will be singing and all are invited to join in. There will be practice before the service.

Membership Dues for Southern New England Conference and Fairfield East Association: For 2020, each member is asked to contribute $12. The Deadline is March 1. You may place your dues contribution in the offering plate OR by On Line Giving available at HCCUCC. If you need a convenient way to make regular offerings or for additional gifts, we encourage you to check out our electronic giving options. Visit huntingtonucc.org or contact the church office for more information.

You may have noticed a large pink box in the alcove. Women’s Fellowship is collecting items so we can make up care packages for fellow congregants (male and female) who may be hospitalized or homebound due to their medical treatments. A list of ideas for the box can be found next to the box for you to take with you when you shop. This collection is on-going.

Women’s Fellowship will once again be offering the annual Lenten Quiet Hour beginning Wednesdays, February 26 through April 1. April 8 is a snow day make up, if needed. The book is “The Way of Forgiveness: Readings for a Peaceful Life”. Please sign-up in the Alcove. All are welcome!

Huntington Center Nursery School: There are openings for our 2020/2021 school year for 3 & 4 yr. olds. If you are or know of someone who is interested in this wonderful program, please contact our Director Linda Rizzitelli at 203-929-7197 for more information. H.C.N.S. is open to the public.

Spooner House Meal envelopes are located in the pews for anyone who would like to donate towards the monthly meals. Questions? see Holly or Gerry Fassbender.

Please take note of the poster in the Alcove with suggested items for the Valley Food Bank bin in Fellowship Hall. Of course, all items are gratefully accepted, but the Missions Committee put together a list that attempts to target items that may be needed more during certain seasons or months. The need is great, so please be generous!

My Sister’s Place bin is back in Fellowship Hall for you to make your tax-deductible donations by filling out the donation form, take your copy and attach or enclose their copy in with your items.

Let us pray. O God, may your justice roll down like waters, and your righteousness like an ever flowing stream, soaking us with vision, purpose, and strength. Amen.

In Christ’s love,

Rev. Lucille
