Huntington Congregational Church

United Church of Christ

This Week June 7, 2022

Hi Folks,

Hope you enjoy the day.

This Thursday, June 9, is my prayer day.  Please let me know if you have any joys or concerns you would like me to share.

This Sunday is Trinity Sunday.  We will be having an outdoor service is the back parking lot.  Please bring a chair! Also, wear a funny T-shirt.  In case of rain, we will be in the sanctuary.  The scripture is Proverbs 8:1-4, 22-31.  The sermon is “Wisdom Calls”.

The Strengthen the Church offering (June 12) supports the expansion of ministry and growth of UCC local congregations. Support of this offering will help the UCC fulfill its commitment to creating a just world for all by investing in new ministries and practices that meet the needs of local communities. The Southern New England Conference of the UCC’s share of this offering goes to support Silver Lake Conference Center, Youth and Young Adult Ministries, and Faith Formation.

Wednesday Night Concerts on the Green begin on June 22 and run through August 31. There will be no concert on June 29. The Vitality Team is once again handing out water as a goodwill gesture to our community. Donations of bottled water would be greatly appreciated.  Please put it in the Fellowship Hall, marked with “COG”.

With the Concerts on the Green, the Men’s Group’s Hot Dog season begins June 22! Any guys out there who can help, please let Steve know at 203 947-1748 or sw1426@gmail.com.

We want to hear from graduates of high school, vocational school, and colleges (both under-graduate and graduate degrees). These folks will be recognized in Graduate Sunday, June 19.

Our Church Auction will be held on Saturday, June 18.  Material is in the Alcove or contact Linda Sember.

The Valley Food Bank at Spooner House is in need of these items: shelf stable milk and powdered milk, pancake mix and syrup, peanut butter and jelly, canned fruit and applesauce, garbanzo and navy beans, canned tuna and chicken, oatmeal and other cereals, and pasta sauce.  There is a box in the Alcove and also the “wishing well” in Fellowship Hall for your donations.  Please be generous!

Please continue to support HCCUCC with your contributions.  Now more than ever, our mission of being the beacon of love and light on the Huntington Green and beyond is vital. Contributions sent in by mail are welcome. Please consider donating at our website, www.huntingtonucc.org. Electronic Fund Transfer giving is also available. Please email the church, hcc@snet.net if you would like a form to set that up. Any way you give is a blessing and is greatly appreciated.

Let us pray.  O Holy God, like on the day of Pentecost, may your Holy Spirit blow through us, removing all that keeps us from being the loving and compassionate people you have created us to be.  Amen.

In Christ’s love,

Rev. Lucille
