This Week August 9, 2022
Dear Folks,
Hope you are all well. Please be sure to take care in this hot weather!
Wednesday Night Concerts on the Green continue through August 31. The Vitality Team is once again handing out water as a goodwill gesture to our community. The Men’s Group is also selling hot dogs, so stop by and say hi!
This Thursday, August 11, is my prayer day. Please let me know if you have any joys or concerns you would like me to raise up.
This Sunday, August 14, is the Tenth Sunday after Pentecost. The scripture is I Corinthians 12:4-13. The sermon is “A Whole Lot of Gifts”. Our service will be outdoors in the back parking lot. It’s Favorite Place T-shirt Sunday! The service will also be Facebook live streamed. In case of rain, we will be in the sanctuary.
VALLEY REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT PROJECT – VOLUNTEERS NEEDED! A well vetted and needy refugee family is waiting to find safe haven! Our church’s VRRP group has moved forward with full funding, team organization, and potential housing in place! All we need is YOU! We need a few more team members to meet requirements to proceed. For more info, please contact the me.
Clean-up Buckets for Kentucky – Clean-up buckets are needed for the folks who have had their homes devastated by the rising waters. Rather than assembling the buckets here, the Women’s Fellowship is asking for money donations that can be sent to CWS so that they can assemble and then ship these buckets for distribution. Donations in the form of checks may be made out to HCC with “Buckets” on the memo line. You can drop your donation in the basket this Sunday or in the plate on future Sundays. Or you can use the on-line option on our website. The need now is urgent. Thank you for your generosity.
The Valley food Bank at Spooner House is in need of these items: shelf stable milk and powdered milk, pancake mix and syrup, peanut butter and jelly, canned fruit and applesauce, garbanzo and navy beans, canned tuna and chicken, oatmeal and other cereals, and pasta sauce. There is a box in the Alcove and also the “wishing well” in Fellowship Hall for your donations. We also have our Blessing Box outside. Donations are welcome for that as well. Please be generous!
Please continue to support HCCUCC with your contributions. Now more than ever, our mission of being the beacon of love and light on the Huntington Green and beyond is vital. Contributions sent in by mail are welcome. Please consider donating at our website, www.huntingtonucc.org. Electronic Fund Transfer giving is also available. Please email the church, hcc@snet.net if you would like a form to set that up. Any way you give is a blessing and is greatly appreciated.
We are in our Season of Generosity which culminates at our “In-Gathering” Sunday on September 25. Our theme is “What HCCUCC Means to Me”. Please consider thinking and praying on this topic, jot down your thoughts and feelings, and send them to Rev. Lucille to be used in a Sunday service. Thank you!
Let us pray. O God of all Creation, help us to know that whatever is happening in our lives and in our world is temporary. May we have our hope and trust in your love that is permanent. Thank you. Amen.
In Christ’s love,
Rev. Lucille
