Valley Refugee Resettlement Project
*VRRP is still active! We are looking at other ways we may help refugees. *
Huntington Congregational Church, UCC and other organizations and individuals partnered together to resettle our first family in the lower Naugatuck Valley, a Syrian refugee family of six.
The Project was conceived by the Generosity Committee of the Huntington Congregational church, UCC and has attracted volunteers from all around the lower Naugatuck Valley. We operate under the guidance and auspices of IRIS, Integrated Refugee & Immigrant Service of New Haven.
To make this project a continued success we need volunteers from across the valley. Volunteers are required to take 3 online training sessions.
We are seeking volunteers to help:
- Teach English as a second language
- Drive to appointments
- Set up housing
- Obtain supplies
- Apply for jobs
- Teach driving skills
- Arrange medical care appointments
- and so much more!
