Huntington Congregational Church

United Church of Christ

This Week February 6, 2024

Hi Folks,

Enjoy the sunshine!

Thursday, February 8 is my prayer day.  Please let me know if you have any joys or concerns you would like me to raise up.

Sunday, February 11 is Transfiguration Sunday.  We will also be celebrating Women’s Fellowship Sunday.  The scripture is Mark 9: 2-9.  The sermon is “An Uphill Climb”.

Please join us in Fellowship Hall after Sunday’s service for refreshments, then return to the sanctuary for practice for the February 18 Historical Service.  The singing will be very different, so we will be running through it so we will know what to expect.

Lenten Quiet Hour begins on February 14, 10 A.M. in the library.  A ZOOM option will also be available.  See sign-up sheet in the Alcove.

Ash Wednesday Service will be February 14, 7 P.M., on-site and Facebook live stream.

February 18 is our Historical service to kick off our 300th anniversary.  Please come, and if you would like, dress up in 1720’s garb.

Women’s Fellowship will hold their Annual Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner on Sunday, March 17th at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children 10 and under. Hot dog dinners: two hot dogs w/vegetables are $10 and one hot dog w/chips is $4.00. Tickets will be on sale after church or contact the church office. Proceeds will benefit the church’s Operating Budget.

The Valley Food Bank at Spooner House – There is a list of needed items in the Alcove.  Please pick up a copy. Please use the box in the Alcove for donations. The Blessing Box also needs to be stocked, but during the winter, please do not put canned or jarred items, only things that won’t freeze. Please note that our Spooner House Meal is now the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Questions—see Holly or Gerry Fassbender.

FUNDS FOR CLEAN-UP BUCKETS NEEDED – Women’s Fellowship is collecting monetary donations for Church World Service Clean up buckets. Checks may be made out to HCC with “Buckets” on the memo line. You can drop your donation in the bucket on Sundays or you can use the on-line option on our website. The need now is urgent.

Please continue to support HCCUCC with your contributions.  Now more than ever, our mission of being the beacon of love and light on the Huntington Green and beyond is vital. Contributions sent in by mail are welcome. Please consider donating at our website, www.huntingtonucc.org. Electronic Fund Transfer giving is also available. Please email the church, hcc@snet.net if you would like a form to set that up. Any way you give is a blessing and is greatly appreciated.

Let us pray.  As the sun’s beams warm our face, may God’s love warm our hearts.  May we be filled with divine compassion for all people, all creatures, and all creation.  Amen.

In Christ’s love,

Rev. Lucille
