This Week February 20, 2024
Dear Folks,
What a great Sunday we had with our Historical Service. Thank you all! If you were unable to attend and haven’t had a chance to view it, be sure to check it out on Facebook or YouTube. It was epic!
For those of you who did dress in 1700’s style, hang onto that outfit! We will be having our Historical Dinner on September 29, and you can use it again!!
This Sunday, February 25, is the Second Sunday in Lent. We will be celebrating Scout Sunday. The scripture is Mark 1:9-15. The sermon is “Into the Wilderness”. The choir will be singing.
Women’s Fellowship will be preparing Manhattan and New England Clam Chowder and a variety of homemade breads. To place your order, sign up on the sheet in the alcove or call Linda. Pick-ups will be on Sunday, March 24th. Chowder is $12.00 per quart. The prices of the homemade breads vary.
Women’s Fellowship will hold their Annual Corned Beef and Cabbage Dinner on Sunday, March 17th at 5:30 p.m. Tickets are $15 for adults and $8 for children 10 and under. Hot dog dinners: two hot dogs w/vegetables are $10 and one hot dog w/chips is $4.00. Tickets will be on sale after church, or you may see Karen in the office. Proceeds will benefit the church’s Operating Budget.
Be sure to put these dates on your calendar: April 14 is our official 300th Anniversary Celebration Service. April 20 is our Women’s Fellowship Shredding Event.
The Valley Food Bank at Spooner House – There is a list of needed items in the Alcove. Please pick up a copy. Please use the box in the Alcove for donations. The Blessing Box also needs to be stocked, but during the winter, please do not put canned or jarred items, only things that won’t freeze. Please note that our Spooner House Meal is now the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Questions—see Holly or Gerry Fassbender.
FUNDS FOR CLEAN-UP BUCKETS NEEDED – Women’s Fellowship is collecting monetary donations for Church World Service Clean up buckets. Checks may be made out to HCC with “Buckets” on the memo line. You can drop your donation in the bucket on Sundays or you can use the on-line option on our website. The need now is urgent.
Please continue to support HCCUCC with your contributions. Now more than ever, our mission of being the beacon of love and light on the Huntington Green and beyond is vital. Contributions sent in by mail are welcome. Please consider donating at our website, www.huntingtonucc.org. Electronic Fund Transfer giving is also available. Please email the church, hcc@snet.net if you would like a form to set that up. Any way you give is a blessing and is greatly appreciated.
Let us pray. O Holy One, time marches on. We may not know what the future will bring, but we know and believe that you will be there, just as you have been in the past and are here now. Thank you. Amen.
Blessed Lent!
In Christ’s love,
Rev. Lucille
