Huntington Congregational Church

United Church of Christ

This Week April 2, 2024

Dear Folks,

Christ has risen!  I hope you all had a wonderful Easter.

For those of you on FACEBOOK, I would really appreciate, for all our posts, actually, but for this post in particular, for you to go to our HCCUCC FACEBOOK page and share the post about the Craft Fair scam.  Someone, using HCCUCC’s name, posted on various sites on FACEBOOK that we were having a Craft Fair on June 1 & 2.  When people contacted “Samantha Carr”, they asked for $80 a day to reserve a spot.  Some people did pay by PayPal to “Allen Kosgei”.  All those posts have been deleted.  I have reported this to the police, but please help get the word out.  This really gives our church a bad name.  It was quite brilliant of these criminals to do it over the Easter holiday when we were very busy.  By the way, our FACEBOOK page and our website were not breached in any way. Thank you!

HELP NEEDED FOR SATURDAY, APRIL 6 at 10 A.M.!  We need lots of help on Saturday to clean all the hymnals and Bibles in preparation for our April 14 anniversary service.  Wipes will be provided.  Thank you!

This coming Sunday, April 7 is the Second Sunday of Easter.  We will be celebrating Holy Communion.  The scripture is John 20:19-31.  The sermon is “Peace”.  We will be kicking-off our 300th Anniversary Capital Campaign.

Sunday, April 14 is our 300th Anniversary Official Celebration!  Be sure to come and bring your family, friends, and neighbors!

Women’s Fellowship is sponsoring a Community Shredding Event & Food Drive on Saturday, April 20, 9:00 a.m.-Noon, in conjunction with our church’s 300th anniversary. Important papers & documents can be shredded for $10 per medium sized box.  Larger boxes will cost more. Proceeds from this event will go to Spooner House. Volunteers are welcome.

14th Annual Auction — Saturday, May 11th, 6:00 p.m. in Fellowship Hall.  See Linda for more info!

The Valley Food Bank at Spooner House – There is a list of needed items in the Alcove.  Please pick up a copy. Please use the box in the Alcove for donations. The Blessing Box also needs to be stocked, but during the winter, please do not put canned or jarred items, only things that won’t freeze. Our Spooner House Meal is on the 3rd Tuesday of each month. Questions? See Holly or Gerry Fassbender.

Funds For Clean-Up Buckets Needed – Women’s Fellowship is collecting monetary donations for Church World Service Clean up buckets. Checks may be made out to HCC with “Buckets” on the memo line. You can drop your donation in the bucket on Sundays or you can use the on-line option on our website. The need now is urgent.

Please continue to support HCCUCC with your contributions.  Now more than ever, our mission of being the beacon of love and light on the Huntington Green and beyond is vital. Contributions sent in by mail are welcome. Please consider donating at our website, www.huntingtonucc.org. Electronic Fund Transfer giving is also available. Please email the church, hcc@snet.net if you would like a form to set that up. Any way you give is a blessing and is greatly appreciated.

Let us pray.  O God of renewal, may your resurrection power be in us as we face each day, each moment with hope and compassion.  Amen.

In Christ’s love,

Rev. Lucille
