This Week May 10, 2022
Hope you get a chance to enjoy the beautiful sunshine today!
This Thursday, May 12, is prayer day. If you have any joys or concerns you would like me to raise up, please let me know.
Outdoor Clean-Up will be this Saturday, May 14 from 9 to noon. Come join us to spruce the place up!
This Sunday, May 15, is the Fifth Sunday of Easter. The scriptures are Revelation 21:1-6 and John 13:31-35. The sermon is “Imagine”. The 9:30 a.m. service is on-site and Facebook live-streamed.
This Sunday at 1 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall, we will be holding an orientation meeting for the VALLEY REFUGEE RESETTLEMENT PROJECT. We will have a representative from IRIS (Integrated Refugee and Immigrant Services) and an “Ambassador”, a settled refugee who will share their experience. HCCUCC and other organizations and individuals will be partnering to resettle refugee families across the lower Naugatuck Valley. Our HCCUCC members, Bob & Deb Margolies and Gordon & Linda Harris are on the Steering Committee. To make the project a success, we will need at least 30 volunteers from across the Valley. Volunteers are required to take 3 – 2-hour online training sessions. Tasks would include (but not limited to) teaching English as a second language, driving to appointments, setting up housing, getting supplies, and teaching driving skills. If you have any other questions in the meantime, please contact: Bob Margolies.
Community Tag Sale: Women’s Fellowship will again be holding our annual tag sale on June 4 (rain date June 11). You are welcome to have your own space or donate items to the church table. Please note that we cannot take items yet, and they may not be dropped off in Reuman House. As the time gets closer, there will be information on where and when to do this. Until then, please consider us as you do any spring clean-out!
CHURCH AUCTION JUNE 18! Information is available in the Alcove!
The Valley Food Bank at Spooner House is in need of these items: shelf stable milk and powdered milk, pancake mix and syrup, peanut butter and jelly, canned fruit and applesauce, garbanzo and navy beans, canned tuna and chicken, oatmeal and other cereals, and pasta sauce. There is a box in the Alcove, also the “wishing well” in Fellowship Hall for your donations. Please be generous!
Please continue to support HCCUCC with your contributions. Now more than ever, our mission of being the beacon of love and light on the Huntington Green and beyond is vital. Contributions sent in by mail are welcome. Please consider donating at our website, www.huntingtonucc.org. Electronic Fund Transfer giving is also available. Please email the church, email@example.com if you would like a form to set that up. Any way you give is a blessing and is greatly appreciated.
Let us pray. O God of all Creation, when the sun is shining, we feel your warmth and light. Help us to feel those things just as much when the days are overcast and rainy. Amen.
In Christ’s love,
